| Research Abstract |
We here investigated the pathophysiological role of vascular endothelial cell-derived micro-particle. We found that 1) stimulations by Ca2+ ionophore or inflammatory cytokines make endothelial cells to produce microparticle (about 50-100 nm diameter), 2) the endothelial micro-particles produces various types of prostaglandins, and 3) administration of micro-particles modulate inflammatory responses both in vitro and vivo. These observations revealed the novel role of vascular endothelial cells in inflammation.
