Research Abstract |
Somite formation giving rise to the backbone occurs with an accurate periodicity during embryogenesis in vertebrates. It has been known that Hes7 is the one of the core clock genes for somitogenesis. We investigated whether SIRT1, a NAD+ dependent deacetylase, is concerned in somitogenesis by generating presomitic mesoderm-specific SIRT1 knockout mice. Our study has suggested that SIRT1 regulates Hes7 gene expression and Hes7 protein stability.
