Outline of Annual Research Achievements

近年，様々な幾何データがビッグデータとして現れ，それらに対する効率的なアルゴリズムの開発に迫られている．幾何データの１つに区間データがあり，作業工程図やスケジューリングなど区間データは様々な実応用の場面で扱われる重要な幾何データの１つである．本研究では，区間データおよびそれをグラフとして表現した区間グラフに対する効率的な処理アルゴリズムの開発のための研究を行った．
本研究成果は大きく３つに分類できる．まず１つ目は区間グラフおよびそれに関連するグラフクラスに対する数学的な特徴づけを与えることができた．こうした理論的な成果はアルゴリズムの開発を助ける重要な手がかりとなる．２つ目は区間データ拡張問題と呼ばれる問題に対する効率的なアルゴリズムの開発を行った．この問題は部分的に区間データが確定しているときに，その区間データを拡張し，適切な区間データを構築できるか，という問題であり，バイオインフォマティクスへの応用が知られている．本研究では，この問題に対する数多くの知見を得ることに成功した．３つ目は，近年，グラフ列挙アルゴリズムとして注目を集めているデータ構造 ゼロサプレス型二分決定グラフ（Zero-Suppressed Binary Decision Diagram: ZDD）を用いたアルゴリズムを開発した．開発したアルゴリズムを避難所割当問題に適用し，効率的により避難所への割当パターンを列挙するアルゴリズムの開発および実装に成功した．
