Research Abstract |
In this study, spatial database on street crimes were constructed based on address information in e-mails distributed to citizens in Osaka and then spatio-temporal patterns of street crimes were analyzed based on population profiles at a neighborhood level. The results showed that street crimes such as snatch-and-run offense occur in neighborhoods where population density is low or rapidly decreasing. We also developed methods to estimate small-area population distributions for measuring neighborhood population dynamics and socioeconomic characteristics.
