Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The result of this research is classified into 4 topics as follows. 1)The comprehensive collection of the monk biographies and the bibliographic study on them as the key of the research on the Buddhism exchange between Japan and Song/Yuan China, which resulted in publication of Collected Biographies of Buddhist Priests Sailing Between Japan and China in the Southern Song and Yuan Eras with a Study of the Buddhist Priest Biography Collection Process in Edo Japan (Bensey Publishing Inc., 2013); 2)Opening of Medieval Zen Texts Database in the website of International Research Center for Japanese Studies in 2014; 3)Fieldwork in the historical remains in both Japan and China where Buddhism exchanges occurred aiming at obtaining the "materials" including non-literal one, such as its geographical features or archaeological relics; 4)Fieldwork in the historical remains in Central Asia and Southeast Asia concerning the Buddhism exchange to compare with one in Japan or China.
