Online surveys were conducted to investigate the status of Japanese intimate partner violence (IPV) using information communication technology (ICT) while being compared with offline IPV. The result suggested that the most frequent action of IPV using ICT was a surveillance of one’s partner. The effect of IPV using ICT depended on the victims. Participants who had IPV using ICT or offline IPV victimization experience had a tendency to feel more controlled in their intimate relationship than those who had no such experience. High relational anxiety and persecutory ideation made a significant effect of narcissism on some of the IPV using ICT perpetrations.
