Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In 1930, Ministry of Education issued a directory, “With Regard to Education in the Home”, and announced that women had the responsibility in education in the home. The ministry newly offered “Classes for Mothers” nationwide in order to foster the qualities needed to mothers, in addition to “Adult Classes for Women”. On the other hand, Nara Women’s Higher Normal School did not think that the new classes were offered to mothers because they thought “Classes for Mothers” and “Adult Classes for Women” were the same. However, after Sino-Japanese War broke out, Nara School regarded the aim of “Classes for Mothers” as the completion of the role of motherhood to cultivate the children to be good Japanese people. Consequently, the war made both Ministry of Education and Nara Women’s Higher Normal School run the classes for mothers for the same goal.
