世界で初めて合成に成功したSmAs系充填スクッテルダイトの特異な物性の機構の解明

Research Abstract

本研究代表者は高圧合成法とフラックス法を組み合わせることでこれまで行われたことのなかった高圧下におけるフラックス法を用いた単結晶育成に成功し、Sm系充填スクッテルダイト化合物SmT4As12(T: Fe, Ru, Os)単結晶試料の育成に成功し、異方性まで含めた電気抵抗・磁化・比熱といった基礎物性測定を行い、SmT4As12が以下のような特異な物性を示すことを明らかにした。(1) SmFe4As12はT = 39 Kで磁気相転移を示す。磁化や比熱の振舞では特にH//<111>極近傍で他の宝庫とは異なる振舞を示すことからこの磁気相転移はSmの局在f電子とFeの遍歴d電子が相関したフェリ磁性である可能性が高い。(2) SmRu4As12はT = 2.5 Kで相転移を示す。この相転移は比熱では明瞭な異常として観測されたが磁化には大きな異常が観測されなかったこと、及びこの相転移温度が磁場の増大と共に高温へとシフトしていくことから四極子転移などの非磁性な多極子転移である可能性が高い。(3) SmOs4As12は時間の比熱から反強磁性転移によるものである可能性が高い。
