Outline of Final Research Achievements |
There is a sand dune in a typical sandy shape on the earth. Dunes are known to take various forms, and their form can be broadly classified by the complexity of the wind and the amount of sand. In order to clarify the temporal evolution and deformation process of sand dune shape which changes according to environmental conditions, numerical calculations were used to quantitatively investigate the sand dune shape. In order to quantitatively discuss time evolution of the sand dune topography, the distance from the sand dune center of gravity to the sand dune surface was measured over all angular directions. Next, using the mathematical model that considers saltation suppression effect by vegetation growth and death, a characteristic sand is called as parabolic dune appeared. As we increased the amount of sand, transverse-like dunes with vegetation developed.
