Research Abstract |
For applying the spin states to quantum memory or quantum bit, controlling spin states are important technology. In this study, we studied creation of spin states and dependence of quantum confinement effect for achieving spin control by optical means under no external magnetic field. We demonstrated that the spin state can be created to direction different from excitation direction by linearly polarized light in semiconductor quantum confinement structures. The degree of spin polarization showed strong excitation energy dependence. These results are important knowledge for spin control by optical means.
