Research Abstract

There are some mechanical systems that involve impacts in gravity, e.g. vibratory feeders, vibrating screens and so on. Sometimes unwanted low frequency vibration occurs in such vibroimpact systems.
This report investigates the mechanism of the low frequency vibration using a simple analytical model and an apparatus. Results show that the variation of bouncing height has exciting or damping effect depending on its phase related to the motion of the gravity center.
The effects of some parameters on the low frequency vibration are additionally examined.
