Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The method to determine spring and damping parameters theoretically based on the idea of spatial discretization of FEM was developed. Regarding the damping model, damping acting on the gravity center of the element and that acting between the elements are considered. For the damping acting on the gravity center of the element, mass-proportional damping and local damping is modeled. For the damping acting between elements is modeled by the critical damping and the temporal stiffness-proportional damping. The DEM considering the element deformability is also developed. Due to the poisson's effect by the gravity, the horizontal compression force is generated between horizontally-adjacent elements. It is found that this compression force delays the failure of the structure.
