Research Abstract |
Accumulating findings show that histone methyltransferases are implicated in obesity. To investigate the role of Smyd family genes encode histone methyltransferase, we generated and analyzed Smyd2/3double knockout mice. The mice exhibited obesity related phenotypes, an increase in body weight and abnormal accumulation of fat. These results suggest that Smyd2 and Smyd3 play a significant role in fat accumulation and adipocyte differentiation.
