Research Abstract |
A modified QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe) extraction method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of forensically important drugs and poisons in human whole blood. In this study, we showed that this modified QuEChERS method can extract various types of drug such as benzodiazepines, tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, phenothiazines, antipsychotics, beta blockers, amphetamines, designer drugs (tryptamines, cathinones, cannabinoids), aconitines, organophosphorus compounds in a single method. The combination of the modified QuEChERS method and LC-MS/MS (or GC-MS) allowed inexperienced technicians to acquire reliable data quickly and easily in forensic toxicological analysis. However, since some highly-polar compounds were not able to extract from samples, we need further experiment for that.
