Outline of Final Research Achievements

The goal of our study is to establish the drug delivery system using local infusion into the epiphysis. Limb length discrepancy was treated with surgery using external fixation and osteotomy. Although limb lengthening resulted in good in clinical, many problems remain such as a long hospitalization.
In this study, we improved the drug delivery system using a micro-infusion pump instead of a osmotic pump. We also succeeded to suppress the long bone growth. Taken together with our previous study, we can control the long bone growth by a continuous local infusion into the epiphysis.
