Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Lewis rats were treated with 0.1, 1.0, or 10mg/kg of echinochrome systemically. Then, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was injected into rats to induce endotoxin-induced uveitis (EIU). The numbers of aqueous cells, protein levels, and TNF-alpha concentrations were significantly decreased in echinochrome-treated rats compared with untreated rats in 24 hours. It was in a dose-dependent decrease. Immunohistochemical examination showed that reactive oxygen species (ROS) and NF-kappaB signals were decreased in iris/ciliary body.
