応募者の独自のアイデアでCOSI衛星の性能向上に寄与でき、MeVガンマ線天文学の発展につながるオリジナリティの高い研究である。MeVガンマ線は他の波長帯に比べて観測が遅れており、その分だけ大きな科学的ポテンシャルを秘めている。日本独自の技術をもってこの分野で国際的なプレゼンスを示すことが期待される。
