Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

入手が容易でない大型赤外線検出器を国産で開発しようとするもので、成功すれば日本の天文学への波及効果は非常に大きい。視野の広さがこれまでに比べて４倍になることで天文観測用として実用のレベルになっていくと期待され、さらに2.2ミクロン帯の天文観測を可能とする国産検出器の登場はかねてより待ち望まれている。
