| Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements |
応募者が開発してきた堆積性有機物の炭素同位体比などの計測手法を用いて、従来は計測困難だった時代（＞600万年）の大気CO2濃度を追跡する野心的な研究であり、取得データに基づいて氷期間氷期サイクルのCO2変動の原因を解明する点に学術的意義がある。
