建物の倒壊過程について、振動台実験で得たデータを収集、コンピュータ解析して、構造に内在する不確実性を倒壊余裕度の平均値と変動係数として定量化する、創造性、独自性の高い研究である。新規性、研究の着眼、将来性いずれにおいても優れており、鋼構造建築物の耐震設計の信頼性と制度を飛躍的に進化させることが期待される。
