本研究は、エネルギー学理、情報科学および経済学の融合による一気通貫した分析フレームワークの構築を通じた融合学理の樹立という点で学術的意義が大きい。その融合学理によって、2050年カーボンニュートラルに向けた技術・社会像を描き出し、科学技術やエネルギー政策の政策提言につながる成果を期待する。
