Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

曲面状のπ共役系をもつスマネンをコアとした分子群を生み出し、その単分子・集合体としての物性と機能を調べる研究を通して、π平面を「曲げる」ことによって生まれる科学の解明と学理の構築が期待される。平面π電子系では実現できない電子状態に基づく新たな機能性有機材料の創出につながると共に、周辺分野に波及効果を及ぼし得る。
