Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

本研究はRobotics-Inspired Biology というアプローチで飛翔の起源の解明に挑む点において挑戦的である。飛翔にとって重要である「柔らかさ」を考慮したソフトロボット工学の技術を利用して始祖鳥の飛行ロボットを開発し、その飛翔メカニズムを推定することで烏類の飛行獲得への進化プロセスを論じる点は革新的であり、関連分野への波及効果も大きい。
