Outline of Final Research Achievements

We established a force measuring method for animal/cell locomotion by utilizing MEMS force sensors with piezoresistors as sensor elements. Comprehensive experiment was conducted by measuring humans, insects, and cells as different size targets. Each sensor design was specialized for the targets in shape, size and measurable range. We measured forces using the prototype sensors, and evaluated the characteristic force depending on their sizes in each target.
