Outline of Annual Research Achievements

(1)強誘電性と電気伝導:擬1次元物質TTF-CAが中性相からイオン性相に転移する際に現れる高い電気伝導性と特異な磁性が、ポーラロン、中性-イオン性ドメイン壁、スピン/電荷ソリトン等のトポロジカルな励起によって統一的に理解できることを示した。一方、この特異な伝導性と磁性は、電荷移動が完全に近いイオン性状態にあるTTF-BAでは発現しないことも分かった。
(2)電荷ガラス:フラストレーションの強い三角格子物質theta-(BEDT-TTF)2I3において、電荷ガラス/結晶が量子融解している可能性を指摘した。また、theta-(BEDT-TTF)2RbZn(SCN)4及びIrTe2において、試料サイズが小さいほど過冷却現象が進むことを明らかにし、非平衡過程を用いて物性を制御する際に、冷却速度の他に試料サイズが制御パラメータになり得ることを示した。
(3)強相関Dirac電子:磁場下の質量ゼロのディラック電子系に生じる励起ギャップが、印加磁場の角度によってバレーギャップ起源からゼーマンギャップ起源へと移り変わることが、磁気抵抗とNMRの測定から示唆された。
(4)スピン液体から超伝導へ:三角格子系EtMe3P[Pd(dmit)2]2に発現する超伝導が異方的な3次元超伝導であることを明らかにし、ナイトシフトが消失しないことを確実にした。また、乱れのある系におけるMott絶縁体-金属転移の境界において、絶縁体と金属の遅い揺らぎを伴う電子Griffiths相が実現することを示した。
さらに、本研究が目指した「境界領域における物性開拓」に照らして、5年間の成果を総括した。局所的な誘電性を伴うトポロジカルな励起による新たな伝導機構や磁性の発見、電子物性科学へのガラスの科学の導入、Dirac電子系における新規な電子相関効果の発見、スピン液体から生まれる異常金属相と特異な超伝導を明らかにした。
