Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題は,高速計算システムを駆使して,コンピューターホログラフィ技術の基礎研究及び応用研究を推進することである.具体的なターゲットは「1 電子ホログラフィによる3次元映像」,「2 デジタルホログラフィによる顕微鏡システム」,「3 デジタルホログラフィによる高速度イメージング」である.本年度は,リアルタイム処理,画質改善等で成果を上げる一方,電子ホログラフィとデジタルホログラフィの両方の技術を取り入れた「ホログラフィックプロジェクタ」の研究にも取り組んだ.さらに,ホログラフィ技術ではないが,将来の3次元映像技術において比較する上でも重要だと思われるボリュームディスプレイ技術の検証も行った.これらの研究成果は10編を超える論文として成果発表された.
また,本研究課題で重要な位置を占めるホログラフィ専用計算機の開発も精力的に進めた.昨年度,大規模FPGAを7個搭載したボードを製作した.本年度は,本ボードを稼働させる回路の実装を進めた.まず行わなければならないのが,ホストとなるPCとの通信を可能にすることである.本ボードの通信規格であるPCI-Expressの回路をボード上の通信FPGAに実装し,専用計算ボードがPCと通信できることを確認した.次の段階として,ボード上に搭載された7個の計算用FPGA間での通信回路の実装を進めている.並行して,ボードの実稼働を前提とした電子ホログラフィ計算回路,及び,デジタルホログラフィ計算回路の検討を進めた.

Reason

本研究課題で稼働させるホログラフィ専用計算機システムの開発が,概ね,当初の計画通りに進行している.
高速計算にもとづく研究開発は,ホログラフィによる3次元映像,及び,3次元計測分野の両面で活発に行うことができている.10編を超える論文は,Optics Expressなどの当該分野におけるトップジャーナルにも掲載され,高い評価を得ている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

ホログラフィ専用計算機システムの実稼働をめざす.稼働後は,本計算機システムを利用して,PC単体に比べて1,000倍近い高速化を達成し,電子ホログラフィ(3次元映像),及び,デジタルホログラフィ(3次元計測、高速度イメージング)のリアルタイム処理の研究を進める.ホログラフィックプロジェクタも含め,これまでの基礎的・応用的研究を実用レベルを指向した研究に発展させていきたいと考えている.
