Outline of Annual Research Achievements

(1)【表現の分岐則】研究代表者は、無限次元表現の分岐則の研究に関するプログラムを提唱し、定性的な分岐則の研究から、構成的な分岐則の研究に移行する重要性を喚起し、その具体例を推し進めた。群とその部分群の組が与えられているとき、大きな群の既約表現から、小さな群の既約表現への絡作用素を“対称性破れ作用素”という。
対称性破れ作用素が微分作用素として得られる場合には、研究代表者が導入した“F-method”という、Verma加群の代数的フーリエ変換を用いる手法で、高階の微分方程式系を満たす多項式の問題に再定式化して研究することが可能である。この手法を援用し、さらに、考えている群とは異なる別の実形に移行して離散的分岐則の理論を用いるというアイディアを用いることにより、局所的に定義された任意の対称性破れ微分作用素は、常に、コンパクト化にまで拡張されるという「拡張定理」を証明し、それを共形幾何に応用した(第7論文)。
一方、積分作用素(とその解析接続)で記述できる対称性破れ作用素に関する「行列値作用素の留数定理」を証明した(第3論文)。さらに、対称性破れ作用素の分類理論を推し進め、その応用としてGross-Prasad予想に関する新しい知見を得た(第6論文)。さらに拡張した設定として、実ランクが高い場合にも対称性作用素の構成(第2論文)を試みた。
(2)【擬リーマン局所対称空間の大域幾何と大域解析】研究代表者は長年のモチーフとして「リーマン幾何学の枠組を越えた不連続群論」に関して、スペクトル理論の構築に踏み込み、局所幾何構造の変形で動かないスペクトラムが無限個存在する発見に引き続き、逆に、局所幾何構造の変形で動くスペクトラムに関して、隠れた対称性を扱う手法を提唱した(第1論文)。これらの一連の結果に関して、Kemeny Lecturesにおける連続講演で成果発表を行った。
