Outline of Final Research Achievements

Virus removal in real water treatment plants was studied from the indigenous viruses present in the water. In Bankok, Thailand, 11 raw water samples, 11 water samples after coagulation/sedimentation, 10 water samples after rapid sand filtration were collected. In Hiroshima prefecture, at 2 water purification plnats 32 samples in total were collected. The virus concentration was measured, among which PMMoVs were most frequently found. As a result, rapid sand filtration with coagulant showed higher removal capacity than slow sand filtration.
