Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In FY2014, the following achievements have been made: i) The methodologies using input-output analysis for assessing the impacts of investment in environmental goods and services sector (EGSS) and in renewable energy sectors has been established. The methodologies were used for assessing the economic and social (job creation) impacts of investment in EGSS and renewable energy sectors in Japan and Korea. In addition, the methodology using the computable general equilibrium (CGE) model for assessing renewable energy sectors in Japan has been established. Using the CGE model, financial mechanisms (policies), the Green Gift taxation scheme that promote the investment in renewable energy sectors in Japan were assessed. ii) Data on EGSS and renewable energy sectors in Korea was collected through the collaboration with Korea Environment Institute (KEI). This achievement enable to conduct the assessment for Korea mentioned in Item i). iii) One conference paper titled "Environmental Goods and Services Sector: Economic and Employment Impact Assessment Using Input-Output Analysis for Japan" was accepted for presentation at the 23rd International Input-Output Conference, June 22-26, 2015, Mexico City. iv) Attended the international technical workshop on "Measuring Progress on the 'Greening' of the Economy: Policies and Practices" co-organized by the Eurostat, the European Environment Agency (EEA), the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). We presented our work classification and mapping EGSS with IO table in Japan.
