Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は申請者らが独自に開発したテラヘルツ(THz)波検出法としてのCherenkov位相整合電気光学（EO）サンプリング法をさらに発展させ，高度化することを目的としている。本年度は，(i) サンプリング光のスペクトル分解検出による高感度化 (ii)ヘテロダインEOサンプリング信号の空間分布特性を利用した検出光学系の最適化による高感度化，(iii) DAST結晶を利用したヘテロダインEOサンプリングに取り組んだ。それぞれの取り組みに対する本年度の具体的な研究実績は以下のとおりである。
(i)スペクトル分解検出による高感度化：　EOサンプリングは基本的には和周波発生（SFG）および差周波発生（DFG）に基づいているため，THz波と相互作用したあとそれぞれに対応したスペクトルシフトがサンプリング光に発生している。エッジフィルターを用いてスペクトルシフトによる強度変化が強調されるようにすることでEOサンプリング信号は増強できるはずである。この仮定のもと，スペクトル分解検出によるヘテロダインEOサンプリングを試みたが，用いたエッジフィルターの性能が不十分で，期待した効果は得られなかった。
(ii)空間分解検出による高感度化：　ヘテロダインEOサンプリングではSFG，DFGに対応して，サンプリングビーム内にEO信号が空間分布し，ビーム断面の裾野で信号の極大が現れることを理論的および実験的に検証した。SFG，DFGに対応してEO信号の極大が現れる空間位置に光検出器を配置し差分検出することでTHz波のヘテロダインEOサンプリングを高感度化することに成功した。
(iii) DAST結晶によるヘテロダインEOサンプリング：　LiNbO3結晶よりも高いEO係数を持つ有機結晶のDASTを用いて，ヘテロダインEOサンプリングを試み有望な結果を得た。
