Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Pollination is an important early step in sexual plant reproduction. In angiosperms, it comprises a complex series of events, regulated by multiple processes, which must be completed effectively for successful seed production. Sequential pollination events, from pollen adhesion onto the stigma surface to pollen tube germination and elongation, occur on the stigma. In this study, we identified molecular factors in each pollination step, using LM-NGS transcriptome technology in stigmatic papilla cell. This finding will contribute a comprehensive molecular understanding of pollination mechanism in sexual plant reproduction.
