Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether emergency tracking device or “elderly monitoring key ring”, helped society isolated elderly people in emergencies. The results showed that socially isolated elderly people tend not to utilize these devices, and local support would be necessary to improve their situation. In addition we aimed to establish a causal relation model among social isolation and health outcomes using medical, psychological and social factors, to develop a social isolation index to predict health outcomes. This index could also be used to identify risk factors related to mental health and decrease mortality risk.
