日本論文（日本に設置された機関に所属する著者が執筆した論文と定義）を含め各国論文が他国論文に対する影響を測定するために，機関リポジトリの資料を調査した。機関リポジトリで公開されている論文等は，機関リポジトリを運営する大学等に所属している研究者が著者であるので，その大学が設置されている国資料と定義できる。タイムズ・ハイアー・エデュケーションによる世界大学ランキングトップ100大学において機関リポジトリの設置されている大学を確認し，公開されている論文等を調査し，ランキングを決定する5つの指標と比較分析した。結果，機関リポジトリで公開されている資料数量とランキングの指標との相関において，1%で有意が確認されたのは，論文(Journal article)と国際性指標(International Outlook)，学位論文(Theses and dissertations)と研究指標(Research)，教材(Learning objects)と産業資金指標(Industry income)，5%で有意が確認されたのは，議会資料(Conference and workshop papers)と国際性指標，書籍(Books, chapters and sections)と国際性指標，未公開報告書・ワーキングレポート(Unpublished reports and working papers)と産業資金指標であった。これらを北米(North America)，欧州(Europa)，アジア(Asia)，豪州域(Australasia)の4つの地域で比較したところ，アジアと豪州地域の大学は，北米と欧州の大学より，大学ランキングが低く評価される傾向があることが分かった。この傾向は特に論文数と国際性指標で強く現れた。

ＩＦＬＡ（The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions）（国際図書館連盟）米国・コロンバス大会（２０１６年８月）「A Study on Academic and Research Impact of Domestic Materials in Institutional Repositories」、ＡＳＩＳ＆Ｔ（Association for Information Science and Technology）（科学技術情報学会）（２０１６年１０月、デンマーク・コペンハーゲン）「A Study on the Academic and Research Impact of Shared Contents in Institution Repositories in Related to Performance Indicators of University Rankings」で発表・公開した。Proceedings of the 79th ASIS&T Annual Meeting 53 1-6（査読有）に掲載された。

平成28年度は，海外発表の2件の旅費を低くおさえられたこと，また，データ収集を研究代表者が実施したため，謝金の支払いが不要になり，未使用額が生じた。
