Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During the FY 2014 we finalized the preliminary demo version of WordBricks for Windows, and concentrated our efforts on the mobile version of the system.
Currently we have a prototype version for Android that is being evaluated in a course of English grammar conducted at our institution. For now, we limit ourselves with grammatical constructions and exercises relevant to this course.
The results of this year efforts were presented in two international conferences.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The current version of the system has more limitations than it was anticipated. We still need more functionality to make it useful in a wide range of language classes.
However, further improvements of the system are only possible in collaboration with language educators. So we started using WordBricks in certain contexts of an English grammar course, offered to the students of the University of Aizu.
Thus we treat the project as being in the state of evaluation (final phase), though we will need to improve and extend it according to the observations and suggestions of our language teachers.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
During FY2015 we will concentrate on two primary goals: - evaluating mobile (Android-based) version of WordBricks in a classroom environment; - further improvements of WordBricks according to the results of evaluation; - identification of practical use cases for WordBricks and dissemination of the system among language educators.
