Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims to clarify the growth mechanism of the Suzuki Violin Factory in prewar Japan as well as to put it in an international context. Entirely self-taught, the founder Masakichi Suzuki (1859-1944) sought to make instruments using Japanese materials, exported them widely across the world, and handmade violins of high standard in his later years. Thus, he supported the musical culture of modern Japan.
