Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Through the analysis of the Histoirs and Roman Plays, the present study reconfirmed the characterisitics and limits of the "masculine transcendence/immanence" complex, dealing at the same time with the fate of the "natural immanence/ body politic" complex in the modern times. Taking into account the insights the so-called "Axial Age" debates have given us, the present study is to pave the way for a theoretically valid platform on which to discuss the problems of Shakespeare reception in modern Japan.
