Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of my research was to develop a method and materials for teaching German pronunciation to Japanese learners of the language. Using the "Cognitive Learning” approach and others as my base, I want to promote a method that encourages learner’s autonomy. I would like for learners to learn to control their own vocal chords and take the sounds they know in their native language and transform them into sounds in their new language. This is the practical method of acquiring linguistic ability that I explored in my studies. I determined that addressing the issue of pronunciation errors was one of the first steps to making a speaker better understood. After conducting a series of experiments, I made a list of the most important factors in acquiring proper pronunciation. I concluded my research by turning what I had learned into a variety of multimedia learning materials.
