Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Over the course of the research period, two research papers were written and publish, three conference presentations were made and a web site devoted to the dissemination of information related to CLIL research and educational approaches was created. The researchers were able to meet educators and researchers in Japan and Europe to discuss approaches to CLIL. This has led to a greater understanding of the possibilities for CLIL in not only universities, but at all levels of education in Japan, particularly in relation to English language education. Research and educational activities related to the work undertaken during this research project will continue beyond the period of the project. In FY2106, as a direct consequence of the time spent in Spain by the principal researcher, visits to Japan by educators and researchers in Spain have been arranged. It is envisaged that this will lead to ongoing collaborative research and educational activities and opportunities. While some difficulties with the adoption of CLIL in universities in Japan can be envisaged, it is thought that are grounds for optimism in suggesting that CLIL has a place in the Japanese educational environment.
