In the second half of the 19. century Czech Viennese established Komensky School, educational institute with Czech instruction language. The Austrian constitution secured the peoples the equal rights to use their own languages. However in Vienna overwhelming majority was German. They had to struggle against obstructions conducted by German school board. The outbreak of WWI was additional burden to the school. Male school teachers were obligated to go to the war. Czech people in Vienna were distrusted because of their affinities with Russians. After WWI the complete collapse of the Habsburg Empire marked the new start of Komensky school.
