Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research is to clarify the role of local politics in Japan. Especially those from local assemblies are appointed as Diet Affairs committee experts(as Whip) in the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Socialist Party. Local politicians also played a role as a maintainer of local order throughout 1955 regime. After LDP's one-party rule ended in 1993, Japan's politics entered the era of coalition government, the people of local assemblies had maintained the influence and become more effective in Japan's politics.
