Outline of Final Research Achievements |
With an aim to clarifying what sentence patterns need to be focused on and when these patterns need to be taught in relation to sentence types, themes, intentions and ways of expressions, the present study collected sentence patterns from authorized Japanese textbooks and from essays written by Japanese elementary school students, which are considered useful when they write essays. As a result of the collection, a total of 292 sentence patterns, which can be divided into 89 types, are listed up, and the study examined in which year these sentence patterns need to be introduced. The study also clarified the distribution of sentence patterns in the three patterns, and compiled a list of data on what sentence types, themes, intentions and ways of expressions appear frequently. On the basis of the compiled list and the teaching practice in elementary schools, the study suggested what needs to be focused on in teaching the sentence patterns.
