Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1. I equipped the cluster server “Shkaf-2” with additional RAM memory, so that the total RAM memory became 1024 GB. 2. I performed multi-parametric high-resolution 2D simulations using the cluster “Shkaf-2”. I chose the parameters of simulations so that they correspond to the 30 J, 30 fs pulse of the newly constructed JKAREN-P (petawatt) laser, which will start operation in August 2015 in JAEA-Kansai. I scanned the plasma density from 1.E+18 to 1.E+20 per cubic cm at maximum, as it will be accessible in the experiments. 3. Owing to the previous advanced funds payment, which enabled the cluster memory extension ahead of schedule, I performed a series of preliminary low-resolution 3D PIC simulations using the cluster “Shkaf-2”. Basing on the results of these simulations, I found the optimal parameters for the high-resolution 3D PIC simulations on the supercomputer in JAEA-Tokai, whose availability is very limited. 4. The paper on the properties of high-order harmonics generation containing the angular distribution of high-order harmonics obtained with my high-resolution 2D PIC simulations has been submitted to the New Journal of Physics. After revision, the paper has been accepted and published.

Reason
The cluster “Shkaf-2” is complete and operates as planned. Using it, I performed high-resolution 2D and low-resolution 3D PIC simulations according to the plan.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Analyzing the accumulated results of multi-parametric 2D PIC simulations, via post-processing, I will summarize the properties of the high-order harmonics, the dependence of their spectra and divergence on the laser-plasma interaction parameters. I will investigate the regimes especially interesting for applications, such as bright high-order harmonics in the “water window” region (wavelength 2.3-4.4 nm) and bright coherent x-ray source with 1 keV photon energy. I will prepare papers for publications in refereed journals and make presentations for the international and domestic conferences and workshops.
