Outline of Final Research Achievements

I have done mainly researches on five- and six-dimensional supergravities, aiming to the construction of extra-dimensional models based on higher-dimensional supergravities.
On five dimensional theories, we proposed a novel scenario in which a large extra dimension whose size is much larger than the Planck length is naturally realized due to the quantum effect.
On six-dimensional case, we made an attempt to develop a systematic method of deriving four-dimensional effective theories from six-dimensional supergravity with various compactifications. As a first step for our purpose, we made a success of completing the N=1 superfield description of six-dimensional supergravity action. This result can be applied to any compactifications that preserve N=1 supersymmetry, and thus it is quite useful to analyze various extra-dimensional models.
