| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims to clarify importance of managing and mastering the envirionment of unit care facilities for the elderly in the spread period. We carried out longitudinal investigation in unit type nursing home during three years. We confirmed typical problems that living spaces were not utilized enough and uniform care was carried out such as conventional facilities.
After some trial and error we found out following three policies of improving the living environment. (1) Expressing various personal information of the residents in living space. (2) Making the places to stay where the residents felt more confortable and peaceful. (3) Introducing the device that the staffs could participate in making environment.
As the result, we could see a significant change from the situation that the staffs provided one-side care for the residents into the situation that the staffs, the residents and the environment affected mutually.
