Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the present study, we examined the relation between UⅡ-UTR system and chondrogenesis using the cartilage tissues of Xenopus laevis, aim to clear the function of UⅡ-UTR system in the chondrocytes. As the results, we found the levels of UTR mRNA expression in the early process of chondrogenesis is significantly higher than that in the mature cartilage tissue. The treatment of UII for the isolated cartilage tissue significantly increased the gene expression of the type2 collagen and TGF-β1. Furthermore, the treatment of UTR antagonist (urantide) inhibited the formation of the spike cartilage tissue after amputation of the froglet limb. These results suggest that the UⅡ-UTR system is involved in the early process of the chondrogenesis.
