Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Completed field collections of samples in Towada area. Continued behavioural studies in the laboratory toward production of high impact article on group size effects on collective behaviour (in prep.). Attended the International Conference of the International Union for the study of social insects in Cairns, Australia and presented a study on group size effects on ant behaviour. Following this, visited Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, for discussions with collaborator Michael Schwarz. Completed genetic component of a study on behavioural variation in Myrmecina with collaborators in Kagawa, Hokkaido, Tokyo and Australia (manuscript in prep). During March 2015 I was an invited researcher at University Pierre et Marie curie in Paris, where, with collaborators Thibaud Monnin and Nicolas Loeuille, we completed a modelling study of ant behaviour (in review in Ecography). Non-renewal of my contract at Iwate University means that the final parts of the project cannot be complete. However, significant data have been accumulated allowing several studies to be written up (currently in progress).
