Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was conducted aimed to establish the sheep production system in less-favored area. The ewes without pasturage experience was judged to have acclimatized to the ranch place about two months after introduction, and it was suggested that the period might be shortened by including individuals with pasturage experience. A few active breed ewes like a Paul Dorset were mixed with Suffolk group, the behavior of the group was activated. The haunting of the wild animal to neighborhood farmland decreases with the pasturage of the sheep and leads to reduction of the farm products damage. Sensory tests of meat products of Suffolk and Suffolk x Paul Dorset lambs were done, but the significant differences were not found. The selling live lams might be one of the desirable production system.
