| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究の目的は、壊疽性腸炎の原因であるC型ウエルシュ菌β毒素による細胞障害の分子機構を毒素・宿主の両方から解明することである。これまでは、細胞レベルでの解明を行った来たが、今回は、マウス腸管に対する本毒素の毒性を検討した。β毒素のin vivoにおける作用を明らかにするため、毒素をマウス回腸ループに投与して、病理組織学的変化を観察したところ、腸管上皮の絨毛が著しく脱落し、出血が認められた。一方、腸管組織の免疫蛍光法による毒素の結合や侵入を観察すると、本毒素が腸管上皮細胞の表面に結合していることが判明した。
