Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we used nude mice as an immune-compromised model and analyzed the effect of antivirals and the mechanism of antiviral resistance. We infected nude mice with a mouse adapted A/California/04(pdmH1N1) virus and treated with anti-influenza drug. The virus replicated in the lung of nude mice for a long term regardless with or without antiviral treatment. Though the survival rate of nude mice were improved by long term treatment, drug resistant viruses were frequently appeared by such a treatment. These findings are useful for the better understanding the emergence and properties of antiviral-resistant viruses in clinical settings.
