Outline of Final Research Achievements

We performed basic experiments and clinical studies to elucidate the role of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) in modification of glucagon secretion in diabetes and obesity. We generated and analysed tissue-specific GIP receptor knock-out mice in basic study. We also investigated the relation between glucagon secretion and incretin secretion, and clarified that GIP affected the glucagon secretion especially in postprandial state.
